Most people, especially older people, have went through their life [knowing] thinking that Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, and anybody that is not Straight and Cis-gendered is wrong.

For most of their life, maybe their entire life, they have thought terrible things about queer people. They haven’t just thought these things, to them, they have known them.

They have known that queer people were wrong. That they were twisted, they were sick, they were evil, confused, broken, mislead, or they were sinful.

And maybe they have acted on that knowledge or perspective.

They have treated queer people terribly, like they were less. Less deserving of your love, less deserving of kindness, even decency, or respect. Like they were less than human. Like they were better than them because they were not straight, as they were. To them, they were disgusting. And they grew up being taught this, thinking this, knowing this. Thousands of years ago, the Bible was misinterpreted and taken to seem as though homosexuality was wrong. It is not. They were taught what they believe and what they believe is that homosexuality is wrong.

At some point in their lives, some of them confronted a challenge. A challenge that tested them. One of their grandchildren, children, nieces, nephews, etc. has come to them and has come out to them.

If they love this person that has come out to them, or they care about them, or they care about their feelings, then they must try to change their views and not treat them any differently. So they have a few choices. A few different roads they can go down. They can change their views on LGBTQ+ and not discriminate the one they care about, they can judge and discriminate them, or another road they could take is they can ignore their sexuality/gender identity and they can act like nothing has changed.

So... Let's all take the right road and accept everyone no matter who or what they may be.
